Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy; one of the defining moments of the Second World War. Since roughly half of the troops involved in that epic battle were “Yanks,” this is a big day on the American calendar. As far as remembering the war is concerned, you can see below there are upcoming blog-a-thons which will handle that. If that weren’t enough, stay tuned later this year for the announcement of a blog-a-thon hosted by ReelWeegieMidget Reviews and Dubsism which will have a “military” theme.
But there’s another big day in America which happens in exactly three months, and while it is on a completely different level, it still involves lots of guys wearing helmets. September 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of Sundays in America being filled with the National Football League. Let’s be honest, as much as I love baseball, the argument can be made in many ways football has passed by baseball as the de facto national sport of America.
That’s why The Midnite Drive-In and Dubsism are teaming up to bring you the “1st and 10” Blog-A-Thon. Coinciding with the start of the American football season, this blog-a-thon is dedicated to films or television programs either about the sport, those in which American footballers appear, or actors who were once players. Claiming you don’t know football, or aren’t familiar with which actors might have once worn a helmet is not an excuse not to participate; there’s a wealth of possibilities in these links.
There’s some people in those lists worthy of blog-a-thons of their very own, so there’s no shortage of topics. Beyond that, we’ll even accept any film, show, or actor if you can make a case it fits the theme. Since they also play American football in Canada, and since thousands of Canadians also fought at Normandy, we’ll also accept Canadian footballers as well, but to be honest, we don’t know of any movies featuring the Canadian Football League. But we’ll take it if you’ve got one!
In order to help your topics while they are hot, you can send all your details to us below! If you don’t have your own blog, but still would like to participate, your contribution can be posted as a guest column. Just let us know and we can figure it out!
After you’ve sent us your subject, and once your piece is published, send the link either in the contact form above, by email at dubsism@yahoo.com or to The Midnite Drive-In at winthrop_j_quiggy@yahoo.com (or both since we are co-hosting) and we’ll take care of the rest!
For future reference, you’ll also want to keep tabs on my Blog-a-thon page because that’s not only where projects are going to be announced for 2019 and beyond, but that’s also where you can see every blog-a-thon in which Dubsism has been a participant. There’s a ton of tremendous reading, as well as plenty of great blog-a-thons coming in the next few months which you can still join, such as:
This page will be updated as we get more contributions, so keep ’em coming!
Let the blogging begin!

Hey. I’ve just seen this blogathon, and I know the blogathon is almost over, but I would still like to join in. If possible, could I write about “Father Was A Fullback”? My article will most likely be a little late, because of the late notice, but I was submit it as soon as possible.
