The “Disaster” Blog-A-Thon Is Here!

Created with GIMP

When this blog-a-thon was announced by The Midnite Drive-In and Dubsism, we were all at the beginning of the donning of surgical masks, rubber gloves, and self-quarantining.  Since then, in America we’ve replaced the virus with firebomb-throwing anarchists.  But as we said back then, this event is here to remind us all we can still be killed by volcanoes, tornadoes, wild fires, plagues of locusts, or any number of other forms of murderous mischief Mother Nature can conjure.

As film bloggers, we would be completely derelict in out duties if we didn’t point out there’s an entire genre dedicated to disasters. So, as a means of taking your mind off your inevitable death, we are teaming up once again to bring you an event which coincides with the birth of disaster movie mogul Irwin Allen, which happened on June 12th, 1916.

This blogathon is these gentlemen’s response to the current disaster plaguing the world, the global coronavirus pandemic. These two film bloggers are using this blogathon dedicated to disaster movies to remind readers that the current health concern is not a disaster as serious as many other situations. This blogathon is full of earthquakes, floods, sinking ships, tornados, locusts, and many other acts of God or freak accidents which can occur. I decided to join this disastrous affair with a review of the Code film account of one of the most infamous disasters of modern history, the sinking of the Titanic, an unlucky combination of natural phenomena and human error.
