What your view of sports and life would be if you had too many concussions

Can You Survive The Second “Disaster” Blog-A-Thon?

As a public service, Pale Writer and Dubsism are here to remind you that while we’ve all spent the last two years dealing with a virus, there’s all kinds of ways to die. Many of them are quite film-worthy. The grader the scale, the grander the film.

Combine that with the morbid curiosity that lives in all of us (admit it…we all slow down to gawk at the traffic accident) and the invention of the “motion picture,” it was only a matter of time before the “Disaster movie” was invented.

We don’t mean movies that were disasters, like Gigli, any remake of Ghostbusters, or nearly the entire filmography of Kevin Costner. This is all about lots of people meeting their maker on a scale grand enough for the “Big Screen.”

That brings us to the timing of this blog-a-thon. This is all about sharing some enjoyment of all our morbid curiosities in the time between today and all of our inevitable deaths by celebrating the birth of disaster movie mogul Irwin Allen, which happened on June 12th, 1916.

As such, this blog-a-thon is exactly what is purports to be…all about all things “disaster.” If you have a favorite disaster-related film or television production, take to your keyboard and share your story. Doing so is easy.

All you have to do is claim your “Disaster” film(s) by hitting us up is hit us up via the contact form below, by my email at dubsism@yahoo.com, or my hosting partner’s email palewriterblogger@gmail.com, in either of our comments sections, or by contacting either of us on Twitter @noir_or_never or @Dubsism. If you publish on Twitter, be sure to tag us so we can retweet.

If you want to contribute but don’t have a blog of your own, just reach out to either of us; we’d be more than happy to post your piece as a guest. Let us know; we’ll work out the details!

In any event, once you’ve signed up, all you need to do is publish your piece on the days of the event, send the link to one of us (which one doesn’t matter since we aren’t breaking this down by days of the blog-a-thon), and we’ll take care of the rest!

If you want to contribute, there’s only a few simple rules.

  1. Despite the earlier description, topics from both the big and little screens are welcome (I can’t deny Irwin Allen did some deliciously bad TV stuff)
  2. Duplicates are allowed, but only two per topic. It’s a big field, so this shouldn’t be an issue.
  3. Anybody is welcome, but to keep enough oxygen in the room for everybody, only three entries per contributor will be accepted.
  4. New posts only, please.
  5. Include the banner at the top of this post in your piece and include a link to one or both of the posts on Pale Writer and/or Dubsism where the completed contributions will be linked.
  6. Please include the name of your blog and a link to it so we can properly promote your piece. After all, we can’t afford $200 a day to hire Jim Rockford to hunt for you!

If you’re aren’t contributing, then please enjoy all the fine reading which will be available, and make sure to like, share, and comment!

Hi! I’m glad this event is back. I’d like to write about Noah’s Ark (1928)… or what is left of it.
    Thanks!
