They may likely take my blogger’s card away for this, but I like ESPN’s Colin Cowherd. Sure, I know he hates bloggers, yet occasionally cribs their bits, but he is also on of the few people at the World Wide Leader who says things that are undeniably true.
Yesterday on SportsNation, during a discussion of the Big Eleven Ten expanding to twelve teams, the topic of Notre Dame came up. Of course, Notre Dame is independent and the fact it has its own television contract is seen as the major obstacle to Notre Dame joining a conference to which it is a natural fit. But Cowherd nailed it.
“Their independence is irrelevant. 30 years and 1 championship. 30 years and 1 Heisman winner. You know what Notre Dame’s problem is? They have mirror syndrome. They look in the mirror, and they see Florida, while the rest of us see Purdue with a bigger budget.”
A lot of people don’t like the guy who says the emperor is naked, but the messenger doesn’t alter the truth.
