Regional Finals abound in our sports movie tournament. It is begging the question “does life imitate art or does art imitate life.” Just like real basketball tournaments (perhaps not this year’s) some top seeds perform, and there’s always a Cinderella looking to crash the ball.
Voting in this round will close Friday at midnight.

What does it tell us about sports movies if “Caddyshack,” a brilliant comedy, maybe the funniest movie ever made, wins this whole thing?
To me, it says that the magic and emotion of sports is almost impossible to recreate. Texas Western beating Kentucky was a real story, real emotion the way it went down. Any screenplay that tries to embellish on what actually happened is just Hollywood fluff.
More power to those who attempt to bring those stories to a viewing public that might not be familiar with the story but still, was the movie any better than the real thing?
I think not.

I just like the fact that you see two young coaches in Shaka Smart and Brad Stevens enjoying the game while at the same time molding the minds of their players not only as athletes but also as men !

Wasn’t Sinbad in Necessary Roughness? If so, fuck whoever made that movie.
