Announcing “Surprise’s Super Bowl Of Surprises” 2019 Football Pick ‘Em Challenge!
It’s no surprise that we here at Dubsism love a sports challenge. As the official Dubsism house cat, Surprise the Cat wants to get back into the challenge game. If you recall, she hosted our Master’s golf challenge earlier this year. Now, with the National Football League’s season right around the corner, the cat with the softest life ever has decided it’s time to offer another challenge.
The idea behind “Surprise’s Super Bowl Of Surprises” is rather simple; it’s a straight-up NFL week-by-week “Pick ‘Em” contest. You pick the winner in each NFL game throughout the regular season, and at the end, whomever has picked the most winners gets the prize.
First, let’s talk about what that prize is. “Surprise’s Super Bowl Of Surprises” is exactly what it says; it’s a giant football-themed snack bowl filled with a cornucopia of football-related trinkets guaranteed to improve any Super Bowl party…well, at least that’s what Surprise tells us. To be completely honest, other than the bowl and the obvious toy footballs, I have no idea what is actually filling “Surprise’s Super Bowl Of Surprises.” I guess that’s what I get for giving a cat my debit card and a ride to the strip mall.
In other words, this is very similar to the prize package we gave away in our “March Madness” challenge. In addition to a few bucks worth of mystery stuff, the winner gets a crown and a medal crafted by our very own Mrs. J-Dub and her Hot Glue Gun Club. Not only that, the winner will receive a certificate suitable for framing to signify that for one brief moment in time, they were better than all the other Dubsists out there.

This challenge is free and open to all, so you shouldn’t need to know the Pool ID and the Password if you follow that link, but in case you are asked for them…

3) Make your picks
- The deadline for entry is 8 p.m. Eastern U.S. time Thursday, September 5th, 2019
- Picks for each week are due by the first game, which is almost always Thursday night 8:20 p.m. Eastern U.S. time. But pay attention to the schedule, because once the first game of the week starts, picks are locked.
- Be sure to set your tie-breaker each week, which is the total cumulative score of the last game listed. This is important because*…
4) Scoring
Players receive 1 point for each correct pick, and whoever has the most points at the end of the season will be the winner.
* – Tie-breakers are calculated as follows: If multiple players are tied for the highest points for any given week, the player with the closest tie breaker prediction, regardless if they are over or under, to the actual tie breaker value is the winner. If multiple players are still tied, then the player who entered their tie breaker value first wins. Note that the date/timestamp is updated every time a player’s picks and/or tie-breaker are edited.
