Because of… Read More The Post-Mortem on the Lakers/Phil Jackson Debacle
It’s time for another one of our patented Dubsism comparisons with another gem we found over at Listverse. As the title suggests, we found a list of ten books that literally defy explanation, until you realize the sports world is full of figure who could have easily written such strange stuff. 10) How to Abandon Ship… Read More The Top 10 Bizarre Books and The Sports Figures Who Could Have Written Them
Naturally, this all stems from the Dwight Howard trade. For purposes of full disclosure, SportsChump is one of the few bloggers we here at Dubsism have any respect for; in fact J-Dub been interviewed on his site, and has appeared on SportsChump’s podcast. The author of the piece which I’m using for comparative purposes uses the… Read More The Top Ten Human Oddities and Their Sports Equivalent
Editor’s Note: Thanks to the Movie The King’s Speech, George VI came back into the view of the American populace. If it weren’t for that movie, most Yanks had long since forgotten George VI’s role as a wartime leader and the fact he ruled sovereign over a quarter of the world. Much as he did through the… Read More Guest Column: King George VI on The Top 10 Worst Generals in British History and Their Sports General Manager Equivalents
The NBA tends to fall off my radar sometime after the two teams I watch have their seasons end. The Lakers are the team I grew up watching and the Pacers are the team I now see every day since I now live amongst the Hoosiers. Today, we are going to explode a big misconception about booze, namely that it always impedes athletic performance. Babe Ruth used to have a pint of bourbon for breakfast, then slam three homers. Ex-major league pitching coach Barney Schultz used to implore his players to “pound those Budweisers, boys.” Now, according to CBS Chicago, we… Read More Dennis Rodman Strikes A Blow For Drunks Everywhere

Does a former drill sergeant make a terrible therapist? Absolutely. But maybe Lamar Odom could use some drill sergeant treatment. Perhaps somebody needs to sit his ass down and explain to him that he doesn’t really have it all that bad. Granted, I understand he has had some personal issues in this past year, but… Read More Ask The Geico Guy: Is Lamar Odom A Crybaby?

This statistic gets even more worthless when you add the divisor… Read More The Twelve Most Useless Statistics in Sports
