The Dubsism Baseball All No-Star Team

Sure, it’s easy to vote for the guys who don’t suck. But  somebody has to give a shout out to the guys who, well… they’re trying as best they can.  So, in addition to the 25 votes we get for the All-Star team, we decided  to make one of our own for the guys who aren’t getting a trip to Phoenix next month.  To be fair, we didn’t count guys that are injured; everybody we selected for the All No-Star Team has at least 191 plate appearances as of yesterday, starting pitchers have at least 62 innings pitched, and relievers have at least 17 appearances.

So, with no further fuss, here is the 2011 All No-Star Team.

American League:

  • 1B – Justin Morneau, Minnesota
  • 2B – Chone Figgins, Seattle
  • 3B – Mark Reynolds, Baltimore

  • RP – Brian Fuentes, Oakland
  • RP – Matt Capps, Minnesota
  • RP – Joakim Soria, Kansas City
  • RP – Frank Francisco, Toronto
  • RP – Matt Thornton, Chicago White Sox

National  League:

  • 1B – Carlos Pena, Chicago Cubs
  • 2B – Dan Uggla, Atlanta
  • 3B – Paul Janish, Cincinnati
  • SS – Miguel Tejada,  San Francisco
  • OF – Aubrey Huff, San Francisco
  • OF – Carlos Gomez,  Milwaukee
  • OF – Brad Hawpe, San Diego
  • C – John Buck, Florida
  • SP – Hiroki Kuroda, Los Angeles Dodgers
  • SP – Bronson Arroyo, Cincinnati
  • SP – Chris Volstad, Florida

Of course, we have some time before the actual All-Star game, so there’s plenty of time to write in your own All No-Star…

Can Yuri Sucart be placed on the list as a reserve ? I’m sure that he needs to be there in Phoenix if merely to entertain Cameron Diaz while his cousin A Rod is at the plate for the AL team ? . But then again with A-roid’s name repeatedly cropping up in his association with Yuri , having been warned by the league and Yankees to refrain from associating with his relative . And that comes in light of A Rod’s contrite apology of his use of ‘roids supplied to him by Yuri .

I say we have two All-Star games instead of just one. Same rules…no ties allowed. If each league wins one just flip a coin for that World Series host thing.

I’d nominate Choo and Hanley off the top of my head. I guess it’s pretty hard to bump Tejada out of there, but then again, did anyone really expect much out of him at this point in his career? For all we know he could be 40 years old. He wasn’t all that good in SD last year, but Hanley on the other hand is supposed to be a stud, and so far he’s been a Tejada…
