The J-Dub Gambling Challenge 2020: Week 9 – The “Kentucky Woman” Edition

This week’s theme is rather simple.  “Lady Luck” is the ersatz patron saint of gambling, and the Kentucky Wildcats are making their third straight appearance as part of the “Payday of the Week.”  You can’t tell me that getting such an odd combination surprises you coming from the blog which routinely mixes sports and movies. Besides, this theme also allows me to mention another strange mash-up…1970s metal legends Deep Purple doing a song made famous by Neil Diamond.

Picture it now…my living room with college football on the big screen and the dulcet tones of Deep Purple replacing the banality of the broadcast booth.  The only question is by the end of the day…will the music be celebratory or drowning out some Kentucky bourbon-fueled sorrow-drowning.

Only Lady Luck knows.

But what we do know is where the J-Dub Gambling Challenge bank-roll stands now…at $6,417 on the season so far from the original 5K.

Thanks to the Supreme Court, gambling is no longer illegal at Bushwood, sir. However, the Supreme Court can’t really help me for one over-arching reason.

Unless one of them is willing to keep Mrs. J-Dub from braining me with a cast-iron skillet if she found out how many dimes I’m dropping on college football; they are of no use to me. That means that as far as she knows, all wagers are mythical in nature and this is in no way, shape, or form a gambling advice column. In other words, if you lose your own “real” money, that’s nobody’s fault but yours, so don’t yell at me when we meet at the plasma center on Monday.
