The way this challenge was playing out, what with canceled games and having a prohibitive favorite to take down the title, all signs pointed to the Sixth Annual Wally Hotvedt College Bowl Challenge coming down to tie-breakers. Going into last night’s championship game, there were three people who could still win.
What we didn’t anticipate was eventual winner going 0-for-4 on their opening picks, then smoking the field by the field by knocking down 11 out of the last 14 to capture the title by a single point. This marks the second straight year Mrs. J-Dub won this challenge with such a razor-thin margin. Another reason we thought this might come down to tie-breakers is because that is exactly what happened last year…which again came down to a single point. The actual number of points scored in last year’s championship game turned out to be to be 67, and Mrs. J-Dub had 68.
As the winner, rest assured that Mrs. J-Dub has already informed me that once again, her prize money will be headed toward a celebratory tab at a local micro-brew, where I know she will inflict far more damage on my wallet than 25 bucks.
Not to mention, she will plant yet another certificate somewhere in our house as a permanent reminder that for one brief moment in time, she was better than all the other Dubsists at something…but more importantly, that she was better than me.
In any event, keep Dubsism in your bookmarks because the only thing Surprise the Cat loves more than eating is hosting a sports challenge…and March Madness is only a few months away!
