The title of this series is “Sports Doppelgangers,” and while I’m on record as saying auto racing is not a sport, there’s really no denying it’s popularity. That’s actually what it shares with the Walking Dead. Neither of them are “my cup of tea” per se, but one cannot deny the popularity of what was once a pretty cool show about killing zombies which is now little more than a graphically-violent prime-time soap opera.
The reason I say that is The Walking Dead has “Dallas”-level water-cooler-chat factor, which is the only reason I know about it’s skull-smashing character “Negan.” Combine that with some accidental consumption of NASCAR coverage on the World Wide Bottom Feeder and voilà…our latest Doppelganger. You just have to accept the popularity of both entities, much like you can’t deny that 7-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson could easily pass for actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s younger brother.

Speaking of the Walking Dead, did you catch Chappelle’s spoof on it and his old characters on SNL last week?
Classic.
