What your view of sports and life would be if you had too many concussions
In numerology, the number 9 is the symbol of wisdom and initiation…it is believed to hold the path towards mystical knowledge. The fact this blog is now nine years old suggests that numerology is so much banana juice.
August 18th, 2009…that’s the day it all started here at Dubsism. That makes nine years since this electronic screed went live. I could go with the shop-worn cliché about “how it seems like it was just yesterday” since that first post about the day Brett Favre signed with the Vikings. But there’s been 1,500 posts and 9 years since then; all of which have made Dubsism what it is…the most interesting independent sports blog on the web.
Another thing which makes Dubsism unique is you; the million-plus readers we’ve amassed over the years. That’s why rather than looking back, we’d rather take a peek at what you can expect from Dubsism as it marches toward a full decade of…well, whatever the hell it is we actually do.
As we find ourselves heading toward some of the highest holy days on the Dubsism Liturgical Calendar, you can bet your bottom dollar the J-Dub Gambling Challenge will be back.
There’s also new installments of some series you come to know. Tales of Depression and Sorrow will have fans of the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills sharing slices of the pain going 0-4 in Super Bowls brings. There’s new pieces in production for Point-Counterpoint. There’s also a new season of the “Ask” series. First it was the Geico Guy, then it was a very own J-Dub. This time it’s “Ask a Cheesy 70’s TV Sports Guy.” Get out your crayons and get those questions coming, gang. Our new guy is already looking through some as we speak.
There’s also plenty of new stuff coming in our interest in classic movies, both in our own series Sports Analogies Hidden In Classic Movies and in Blog-A-Thons hosted by other connoisseurs of classic cinema.
In any event, if you are new to the Dubsism experience, thanks for spending some of your blog-reading time with us…we do appreciate it. Regardless if you’re new or a Dubsist of tenure, stay tuned because our tenth year is going to be one even the numerologists will appreciate.
