I should have known better. Every year, by the end of the first weekend of the basketball tournament, my brackets are just so much smoldering wreckage. Every year, I think the NCAA Hockey tournament can save my enjoyment of filling out brackets. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that statistically speaking, my chances of picking… Read More Here’s Another Bracket You Can Watch Go Up In Smoke
If you are an old geezer like me, you know that during World War II, the NFL ran so short of players because of the war that for three years between 1942 and 1945, the league merged the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles into one team, the Phil-Pitt Steagles. With baseball season fast approaching,… Read More The All-Time “Played for Both the Dodgers and Yankees” Team – The New Angeles Dodgekees

First of all, Duke sucks. Even when they don’t suck, Duke sucks. Second of all, I honestly didn’t think I would have to write my annual “Fuck Duke” post until next weekend, but thanks to the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh University, now that annual screed becomes more of a Blue Devil post-mortem. I went into… Read More Why You Shouldn’t Cheer For Duke: Largely Because Thanks to Lehigh, You Can’t…And Mike Krzyzewski Is a Dick
When you stop to think about it, you had to expect something like this to come up, didn’t you. After all, for as much of a feel-good story as Jamie Moyer’s comeback from Tommy John surgery is, you knew there was going to be some pain. Or if not pain, some stiffness perhaps; like the… Read More Your Jamie Moyer Update – 3/16/2012: A Small Setback
12) Minutes Played Let’s be honest. In basketball, it isn’t about how often you get on the floor, it’s what you do when you get there. That’s probably why all the leaders all-time in minutes played are (or will be) in the Hall-of Fame. This statistic gets even more worthless when you add the divisor… Read More The Twelve Most Useless Statistics in Sports
1) Los Angeles Angels Upside: This team has ownership that isn’t afraid to make a move. Due to the free-agent signing of first baseman Albert Pujols and starting pitcher C.J. New GM Jerry DiPoto did, however,… Read More The Dubsism 2012 Pre-Season Baseball Power Rankings

Well, to be honest, that headline is a tad bit deceiving, but given the fact we are talking about two of the most dysfunctional franchises currently in the sports world, this story begged for a joke. Jamie Moyer made his Major League debut on June 16, 1986. Yesterday, when Moyer pitched against the Chicago White Sox, he faced two hitters that hadn’t even been born by the time Moyer was in the bigs – Jared Mitchell (Oct. 13, 1988) and Eduardo Escobar (Jan. 5, 1989). Moyer’s opposing pitcher, John Danks, wasn’t… Read More Your Jamie Moyer Update – 3/11/2012: Spring Training Against the White Sox
